Rhod might appear as a larger than life, in-your-face funny man, but there's another Rhod Gilbert hiding not far below the surface. The real Rhod is shy, introverted, and terrified of social occasions. The programme follows him as he tries to do the simplest of tasks - walk into a coffee shop alone, talk to strangers or even hold their gaze. Rhod also tries to help three people whose shyness has left them virtually housebound. Can he persuade them to repeat what he did to come to terms with his own shyness, and do a stand-up routine in front of a live crowd?
