Alex and Jonny

Episode 3 of 5

Documentary series. 31-year-old Alex has an interview for her dream job working in a children's activity centre, but suffers from anxiety and nerves.

This week the secret helpers take on Alex and Jonny, who have major fears to overcome.

31-year-old Alex has been unemployed for two years and is now back living at home with her parents. This is not where she thought she would be at this point in her life. She wakes up late, spends most of her day watching TV and hanging out with her mother. In a week's time Alex has an interview for her dream job working in a children's activity centre. Alex suffers from anxiety and nerves, not to mention the fact that part of the interview involves scaling walls and doing rope swings and Alex has an extreme fear of heights. There is a lot at stake as getting this job would mean that she can regain her independence.

28-year-old soldier Jonny returned from a tour in Afghanistan after being injured in an explosion. A few months ago, he had his leg amputated and has been struggling to come to terms with a future that is very different than he ever imagined. Lauren, his wife, is pregnant with their first child. Jonny knows that before the birth of his child he needs to 'get the old Jonny back' so that he can be a good father. He is lost and he urgently needs our sages to help.

Can the Secret Helpers help Alex to get her first job in two years and can they help war veteran Jonny start a new life? The sages are Gwen and Elisa, Mark and Joe, Lillian and Sister Una.
