The Government is being urged to do more to make sure older people who rent don't fall through the cracks of the social care system.
That's the view of the Salvation Army whose survey of renters over 50 found the vast majority (86%) aren't prepared for the costs of care.
The charity says many people aren't aware that if you don't own a home, the local authority doesn't actually fund your care in full. There can be a shortfall of between 拢129 and 拢360 per week.
It warns renters miss out on a choice of care homes because they have no assets to pay fees.

Soaring property prices in Edinburgh are pushing some buyers out of the city. That's according to research from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). It says prices in the Scottish capital are very high, supply is limited, and most houses are going for over the asking price.

Shops are closing at their highest rate since 2010 and the number of people coming into town centres is falling by three per cent each year.
Some towns and cities in the UK are trying to halt the decline by going upmarket with craft quarters and food fairs.
But not everyone thinks high street gentrification is the answer for troubled town centres.
We speak to Phil Hubbard, Professor of Urban Studies at Kings College, London. He says the redevelopment of some high streets is an attack on working class culture.
