Making Music With Whales

Mary Anne welcomes philosophy and music Professor David Rothenberg into the studio. David explores the idea of making music with whales in his book Thousand Mile Song.

Mary Anne Hobbs welcomes David Rothenberg into the studio. He is a composer and a distinguished Professor of Philosophy and Music at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

David is the author of 'Thousand Mile Song', which explores the idea of making music with whales. He has also released albums including 'Whale Music' and 'Whale Music Remixed', which feature him jamming on his clarinet with whales, and includes collaborations with electronic artist Mira Calix.

In this show, we learn more about David's work into understanding the musical relationship with nature, specifically whales, bugs and birds.
