Lisa Nicholls (pictured)听is 49 years old and lives in Newport. She started going through peri-menopausal symptoms at the age of 45.

The symptoms became so difficult to manage that she felt she had no other option than to resign from her job.

After three years, she eventually managed to get a referral to a menopause clinic. There are only two menopause clinics in Wales, and Lisa is fortunate enough to live in an area where there is one.

She now has the treatment she needs and is keen to find work again, but it's not easy as she has a year long gap in her CV. She wouldn't have given up work if she'd had the right treatment earlier.

This is just one story. There are many more.

Eye On Wales listens to Lisa's story as well as to that of Helen Owen who lives in Wrexham and went through a surgical menopause at the age of 29.

The programme also hears from Debbie Shaffer of Fair Treatment for the Women of Wales about their campaign to improve menopause services for women in Wales:

"This isn't a small issue. This is a widespread, Wales wide issue affecting 52% of the population, and the Welsh government has a responsibility to the women of this nation to take a lead on this."
