Great Britain have a strong history in eventing and won two medals at the last Games, which were held four years ago in Normandy, France. But current champions Germany are the team to beat - their squad includes reigning individual Olympic champion Michael Jung and multiple world and Olympic gold medallist Ingrid Klimke.

The dressage event sees another Olympic champion, Britain's Charlotte Dujardin, making her first championship appearance since the retirement of Valegro, with whom she won three golds and a silver at two Olympics. Dujardin is partnering Mount St John Freestyle - their results so far this season have been promising, with Dujardin back in the world's top 10 for the first time since 2016.
