Battlebags and Blimps
That is what the crew and civilians used to call the Royal Naval airships that patrolled UK coastlines during WW1. Today at Carrickfergus Town Hall, the secrets of Bentra airfield near Whitehead are being explored in an exciting new partnership project between Mid and East Antrim Council and Queen's University.
Portaferry Sails and Sounds
The festival starts on Friday and will continue throughout the weekend with a display of classical boats, sailing and rowing taster sessions and traditional Irish and Ulster Scots music/dance. Events coordinator聽Moira Ritchie is from the Sailing Club in town and will join Anne Marie live to talk about the festivities.聽
Ness County Park
Anne Marie meets our very own bird expert Dot Blakely in Ness County Park at Burntollet Valley.They make their way through the canopy of oak, ash and beach trees as they come across the beautiful sounds of birdsong. The woodland extends along both sides of the Burntollet River to the Ness waterfall.
Downey Duckling Week
Over the past 12 months, Castle Espie Wetland Centre Duckery has undergone major renovations and it will officially re-open for Downy Duckling Week from the beginning of July. You can witness a guided tour of the whole egg-to-duckling process through the duckling nursery and incubation areas and discover how ducklings develop inside an egg.
