This episode revisits1991, a year of major international events. Following Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait in 1990, US president George Bush forms an international coalition that includes the UK, and after Saddam ignores a UN ultimatum the coalition launches Operation Desert Storm.

Also on the international front, with the break up of the USSR, President Gorbachev resigns.
Meanwhile, back in the UK, home the government announce that they are to abolish the Community Charge, or 'poll tax', while in Switzerland there is a technological breakthrough that will change the modern world: Tim Berners-Lee publishes the world's very first website.

It鈥檚 'The One and Only' year for Chesney Hawkes, who has a number one hit with that track, and it is also a great year for Sean Connery who receives the Freedom of Edinburgh. Liz Taylor marries for the eighth time and Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

Fans are devastated at the death of a rock legend when it is announced that Queen front man Freddie Mercury has died. Following Freddie鈥檚 death 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is rereleased and becomes Christmas number one,making it the only track to top the Christmas charts twice.
