Remembering the Fallen

Sophie Raworth presents live coverage of the commemorative service taking place in Bayeux War Cemetery to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

75 years ago, on 6th June 1944, the largest amphibious assault in history, the Normandy Landings, took place. It was a campaign which would mark the beginning of the end of the Second World War. To mark this historic and vital day, Sophie Raworth presents live coverage of the commemorative service taking place in Bayeux War Cemetery, with commentary by Fergal Keane.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, together with other foreign dignitaries, join veterans at the cemetery in Bayeux for a poignant service of remembrance, to pay tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of all those who served and lost their lives fighting for the restoration of peace.

Throughout the programme Sophie Raworth will be joined by special guests in the studio, while Dan Snow will be reporting from the cemetery, meeting some of the incredible veterans who have made the pilgrimage back to Normandy to remember their fallen comrades.
