In the first half hour of the programme, our guest presenter on Out of Doors this week journalist Kim McAllister explores the idea of rewilding. She visits the Alladale Wilderness Reserve and chats to its owner Paul Lister who has radical plans when it comes to rewilding at Alladale including reintroducing wolves. Kim also finds out about the practicalities of bringing back species like Lynx from ecologist Dr David Hetherington and about the successful reintroduction of Sea Eagles to Mull from Dave Sexton from the RSPB. As the state of our environment hits headlines daily, could rewilding be key to tackling some of the problems we currently face and what kind of country would a ‘rewilded’ Scotland be?

Mark tries his hand at snorkeling as the Berwickshire Marine Reserve and Scottish Wildlife Trust launch the Berwickshire Snorkel Trail to highlight the great beaches in the area for exploring.

Kim investigates how satellite technology can be used for conservation and rewilding.

It’s a fact of nature, we all poo. But as Mark finds out, not everyone knows how to deal with it when wild camping! He heads for the shores of Loch Lomond where the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park have launched a campaign to point people and their poo in the right direction.

Mark visits Inverleith Park in Edinburgh to hear about a project between the University of Edinburgh and the City of Edinburgh Council which aims find out how we use our parks to in turn make them better places

Mull and Iona Community Trust were recently successful in a bid to take ownership of an area of woodland on Mull. Mark hears about their plans for the land.
