Conciliation Resources
Everyone has a right to live in peace. Conciliation Resources is an international organisation committed to stopping violent conflict and creating more peaceful societies.
For 25 years we have been working with people impacted by war, as well as with those in power, to make peace possible.
Youth peace groups
In Nigeria, these groups help young people become leaders for peace. So far, 3000 young people have received training, mentoring and support. They now have the skills and confidence to mediate conflicts, reconnect with their communities and transform their lives.
Badawiya鈥檚 story
Orphaned at 14, Badawiya (name changed) was befriended by a member of the militant group Boko Haram, who persuaded her to wear a vest of explosives. A friend found her, took off the vest and encouraged her to join a youth peace group. Badawiya says: 鈥淚f it wasn鈥檛 for this group, I wouldn't be here.鈥�
Making peace possible
Globally, the number of violent conflicts has risen sharply 鈥� one in four people now live in insecure countries. Initiatives such as the youth peace groups are making a difference, helping people prevent the escalation of conflict and end cycles of violence.
