We are with the special operations response teams as they deal with the most serious emergencies, including a child who has fallen into a loch.

Documentary series following the Scottish Ambulance Service. Serving a population of over five million from remote islands to busy cities, the paramedics are first on scene at medical emergencies right across the country.

In this episode, we follow crews from Paisley, Glasgow and Edinburgh as they respond to high-pressure 999 calls, 24 hours a day. And we are with the special operations response teams as they deal with the most serious emergencies.

In the Pentland Hills, the ambulance crew struggle to find a hiker who has fallen ill. In Glasgow, a crash on the motorway sees several casualties hospitalised, including a pregnant woman.

Meanwhile, in Edinburgh, ambulance crew Stephen and Gwion are called to a festival worker who needs treatment for a reaction to a bee sting. And just outside the city, a woman has a suspected broken arm after a fall in the street. An elderly patient with labyrinthitis has become dizzy and needs to be taken to hospital. Ambulance crew Colin and Dan do their best to make her feel comfortable and in safe hands.

In the west, a sepsis case at a GP surgery needs emergency treatment and a fast transfer to hospital. And in a remote rural location, a small child has fallen into a loch, triggering a huge emergency response.
