Prisoners鈥� Education Trust
PET works in every prison in England and Wales, funding distance learning and offering advice and guidance. We work to 鈥榝ill the gaps鈥� in prison education by providing funding for around 250 different courses, in levels and subjects otherwise unavailable. Distance learning courses are paper-based courses that people can complete in their own time, and from within their cells.
We also offer advice and guidance to people in prison. Every day our staff make visits, answer letters and take phone calls from people who are keen to use their time to gain qualifications and build a positive future.

鈥淚 grew up with a sense of fear, I hung onto people I thought could help me, even if those people used me, I needed support!鈥�
The prison library
鈥淎fter being transferred further away from family, I started to go to the Library to read and write poetry and escape the chaos of prison, this is where I was given information about PET.鈥�
A passion for learning
鈥淚 told my mum that I had been successfully awarded funding for my Arts & Languages course. This was a special connection we shared before she passed away. We would discuss all elements of the course, she was so proud of me!鈥�
