Gareth Thomas’s Tour de Trophy

Rugby star Gareth Thomas undertakes an arduous but enlightening 500-mile bike ride from Cardiff to Aberdeen to raise money for Sport Relief.

In December 2019, rugby star Gareth Thomas cycled from Cardiff to Aberdeen, towing the 40kg Sports Personality of the Year trophy behind him - all for Sport Relief. Throughout his seven-day challenge, Gareth allowed cameras to record every minute of his struggle in the hope that this film would help change our attitudes to people living isolated lives or burdened by a social stigma, issues close to Gareth’s heart. What he hadn’t realised, though, was that the ride would change his life, too.
