Songs from Laurel Canyon

Mark and Stuart play some of their favourite tracks to come out of Laurel Canyon, an area of Los Angeles, California that became famous for it's music in the 60's and 70's

Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie present a feast of great music and chat for weekend breakfast.

Ahead of the release of a new documentary film about the music of Laurel Canyon, Mark and Stuart play a selection of their favourite tracks to come out of the area and discuss the musical and cultural impact of the Laurel Canyon scene in the 60's and 70's. A neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, Laurel Canyon became famous for the many musicians that lived and gathered there such as Joni Mitchell and Neil Young and it became one of the focal points of the American counterculture of the late 1960's and early 1970's. Mark and Stuart reflect on the scene and play tracks from the likes of Crosby, Stills & Nash, Joni Mitchell, The Byrds and The Mamas and The Papas.
