Worship in the Great Outdoors

Aled Jones revisits people who find spiritual inspiration in the great outdoors in the Yorkshire Dales, Cumbria and Perthshire.

Aled Jones is in Pains Hill Park in Surrey, looking back at stories of people who find spiritual inspiration in the great outdoors, including the Christian couple Claire McCollum met last summer, who take people for trips around the Yorkshire Dales on their motortrike to places including the stunning Jervaulx Abbey.

There is another chance to see Rev Kate Bottley raft-building with the group of young people at the YMCA鈥檚 National Centre Lakeside in Windermere. JB Gill takes to the water in a kayak with the minister who is spiritually inspired by the River Tay in Perthshire. We also explore the beauty of God鈥檚 creation through the lens of a group of photographers at the beautiful Eycott Hill Nature Reserve in Cumbria. Katherine Jenkins performs Make Me a Channel of Your Peace, and there are hymns from around the country. Recorded before church buildings closed.

Stories

Yorkshire Dales via Motor-trike.

We look back to last summer when Claire McCollum explored the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales via motor-trike and met the Christian woman behind the trike tours who feels close to God whilst on three wheels! They make a special stop at the spiritual landmark of Jervaulx Abbey.

Raft building at the YMCA Lakeside.

There鈥檚 another chance to see when The Rev. Kate Bottley visited the YMCA鈥檚 National Centre Lakeside in Windermere. She hears about their Christian origins and joins a team of young Christians as they learn how to build rafts.

The Kayaking Minister

We revisit the time JB Gill met The Rev. Scott Burton, minister of St Matthew鈥檚 Church in Perth, on the banks of the River Tay. He has a passion for kayaking and can even paddle right past the door of his church. JB Gill joins him on the water and Scott explains how the river has taught him many things about life and faith.

Nature Through the Lens

Another opportunity to follow photographer Andrew Heptinstall as he leads workshop with a group of amateur photographers at Eycott Hill Nature Reserve, which is part of the Cumbrian Wildlife Trust.
