Episode 5

Police in London search for an Italian couple wanted for slavery and extortion, and the search for a cocaine smuggler leads to an arrest in a wealthy suburb of Accra in Ghana.

Early morning in London and the Metropolitan Police鈥檚 extradition unit are out in search of two people convicted of slavery and extortion offences in Italy. DS Pete Rance and his team decide to take a cautious approach as the pair have a history of violence. When officers track down the pair, they find the fugitives are not what they were expecting.

In 2013, port officials were doing routine checks on cargo when they came across a huge cocaine haul. The National Crime Agency were alerted to the 拢70m find and set up a sting to find those responsible. Once they had switched the drugs for a dummy load, undercover officers followed the lorry to Wigan. The gang were traced and arrested, but one man evaded capture - David McDermott. Thinking he鈥檇 fled to Spain, officers concentrated the search there, before new information sent them to Ghana. With help from local police, the NCA began the task of tracking McDermott down in Accra, one of Africa鈥檚 biggest cities. But would they find their fugitive in a city with a population of over a million?
