Episode 20 of 30

In the Bidding Room today, the dealers go head to head over a religious statue, a pair of Bakelite phones, a glimpse into the future and a piece of rock n roll history.

Nigel Havers welcomes four more sellers to the Bidding Room, where they try to sell items to five professional dealers who are on the lookout for interesting pieces, with help from expert Simon Bower.

First through the doors is Anne, with a saintly surprise. She is hoping that her polychrome carving of St Sebastian, who has stood proudly in her bathroom for many years, will tickle the fancy of the dealers. Next, Teneille from Manchester has brought in a family heirloom. In a cupboard, her mum has discovered two vintage bakelite telephones that would have been party to some very interesting conversations in their time.

Carol has some Chinese fortune sticks that she’s keen to sell on, and Steve is selling an iconic piece of British rock ‘n’ roll history: some plywood boards that lined the dressing room walls of London’s famous Marquee club and were signed by an array of seminal rock bands.
