Social Care Complaints; Identity Fraud; Sunday Trading

Why complaints about adult social care are getting missed.
Protecting yourself against rising identity fraud.
Would opening shops for longer on Sunday help the High Street?

We look at why some of the worst complaints about adult social care may be getting missed because people don't know how to report them. The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman is warning that those funding their own care aren't bringing enough cases despite very high uphold rates against some independent care providers. In its latest review of publicly and privately funded care, the Ombudsman upheld two thirds of complaints, with a slightly higher uphold rate in the private care sector. We speak to Donna Campbell, an Assistant Ombudsman with special responsibility for adult social care, about why so few people are coming forward.

With most people now being more careful about how their share personal data and extra security banks have now put in for their customers, we ask why identity fraud is at an all time high in the UK. We hear from a man who says his identity was stolen from the Companies House register. Cifas, a not-for-profit membership group that works with the public, companies and local authorities to fight fraud, says two thirds of all cases reported last year were about identity fraud. We speak to Nick Downing, Cifas' Chief Intelligence Officer about why this type of fraud is still growing.

We examine whether allowing some shops to open for longer on a Sunday might help businesses on the High Street recoup lost trade since the coronavirus outbreak.
We speak to Conservative MP Nickie Aiken who thinks extending Sunday trading hours would help, particularly in the West End and Knightsbridge areas of London that she represents which have lost much of their tourist trade. We also hear from Paddy Lillis from the shop workers' union, USDAW. which is opposing the move.
