A special programme marking the 40th anniversary of the West Highland Way. In this episode Mark walks from Milngavie to Inveroran.

On day one he makes his way from Milngavie to Drymen. He comes across a few more walkers setting off and discovers the joy of a bag carrying service. On the way he finds out about the Carbeth Hutters community and the Craigallian Fire memorial and bumps into former Out of Doors producer, Chris Sleight.

From Drymen it鈥檚 on towards Rowardennan, passing Balmaha and chatting to Jane McGeary the West Highland Way business development manager about the popularity of the route and gaining his West Highland Way pass. Gordon Watson, chief executive of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park also joins him for part of the route.

Day three to Crianlarich proves tricky but after being spurred on by a couple he passes who are running the route and a stop off at the famous Drovers Inn, Mark powers through the rough and rocky terrain.

And on day four he makes it to Inveroran after learning about the history of the railway from Dr John McGregor from the Friends of the West Highland Lines group. The clouds clear and he can enjoy the view as well as a chat with a pair who are panning for gold near Tyndrum.
