As a maize farmer in Karamoja in rural Uganda, Theresa (left) lived at the mercy of an unpredictable climate. Heavy rains and high winds sometimes devastated the crops, leaving her with no food and no income. When money was tight and school fees were due, Theresa faced the heart-breaking choice of which of her children to send to school.

Farm Africa is supporting women like Theresa to set up goat-rearing enterprises. Theresa received two goats from Farm Africa on the condition she passed on two goat kids to Longole (left), another mum in need.聽聽

Helping mums help children
Farm Africa offers the women training on how to keep their goats healthy and how to make money from dairy products. For mums like Theresa, Longole and Regina (left), goats mean a constant source of nutritious milk for their children, as well as money for school fees and medicine.
