Simon Armitage

Poet Laureate Simon Armitage takes a walk along Yorkshire鈥檚 enchanting, historic frontier with the North Sea. Filmed in January 2020 before Covid restrictions were introduced.

A coastal walk is the setting for Poet Laureate Simon Armitage's ramble along Yorkshire鈥檚 enchanting and historic frontier with the North Sea.

Starting in Ravenscar, Simon Armitage takes the old Cinder Track - a disused railway line. Carrying a 360-degree camera, he passes former quarries and brickworks before taking a beach walk from Boggle Hole to the picture-perfect Robin Hood鈥檚 Bay.

Simon witnesses at first hand the impact of coastal erosion and meets farmers and locals living and working by the sea. He ends his journey with a seaside pint of local ale.
