Maximo Park’s Paul Smith

Maximo Park frontman Paul Smith joins Mark to share his 'First, Last and Everything' and chat about the band’s forthcoming new album

Mark Radcliffe presents solo, with a feast of great music and chat for weekend breakfast

Today, singer, songwriter and Maximo Park frontman Paul Smith joins Mark to share his 'First, Last and Everything' - that’s the first record he owned, the most recent one he’s enjoyed and the record that means ‘everything’ to him.

Paul also chats about Maximo Park’s forthcoming seventh album ‘Nature Always Wins’ which comes out next month. The album title alludes to the debate around Nature vs Nurture and whether or not we actually have any control over who we are. The indie rock band formed in Newcastle twenty years ago and came to prominence in the 2000’s with hits including ‘Apply Some Pressure’ and ‘Our Velocity’. Now a three-piece, the band started writing their new album last summer. They recorded it remotely, between Newcastle and Liverpool with the album’s producer Ben Allen working in Atlanta.

Also on the show today... a whole host of quality radio items including 'Breakfast Blend' - three tracks that make a great sonic blend - plus another instalment of Sunday Glove Songs.

You can take part in The Chain, choosing a track for our world-famous list of over 8000 interconnected songs.

Plus a finely balanced blend of new and old music, setting you up for a Sunday.
