Mark Radcliffe reflects on the career and ongoing influence of David Bowie with guest and long-time Bowie band member Gail Ann Dorsey plus archive interviews

Mark Radcliffe presents solo, with a feast of great music and chat for weekend breakfast.

As part of 6 Music's 'Bowie Five Years On' season marking the 5th anniversary of his passing, Mark celebrates the life, career and ongoing influence of pioneering and legendary music artist David Bowie.

He hears from American musician and long-time Bowie collaborator and band member Gail Ann Dorsey. Bassist and signer, she was part of Bowie's band from 1995 until his death in 2016. She shares her memories of working with him for over two decades.

Also on the show... Mark reflects on his own meetings with David over the years, and plays a selection of highlights from the archives. Among the clips are selections from Mark鈥檚 1995 interview with David discussing his Outside album, and highlights from Mark鈥檚 Radio 1 show recorded at Maida Vale in 1999 with Bowie (and Gail) live in session.

There are also highlights from previous guests on the show talking about their love of Bowie鈥檚 music and his influence on them. Among those sharing their favourite David Bowie songs and memories are musicians Anna Calvi, Jehnny Beth and Brix Smith Start, astronaut Tim Peake and Poet Laureate Simon Armitage.

Plus a finely balanced blend of new and old music, setting you up for a Sunday.
