House Music with Marisha Wallace

Ahead of this weekend's result from 'Radio 2's Greatest Song From a Musical Vote', Broadway and West End star Marisha Wallace performs the first House Music session of 2021.

Marisha Wallace - the Broadway and West End star who's just released her debut album 'Tomorrow' - performs in the year's first House Music ahead of our 'Radio 2 Celebrates The Musicals' weekend. Marisha, born in North Carolina, appeared in the original Broadway casts of 'Aladdin' and 'Something Rotten!' as a member of the ensemble and understudy. In January 2017 she became an alternate Effie White in the West End production of 'Dreamgirls'. Following the departure of Amber Riley from the production, Marisha took over the role, sharing with Karen Mav and Moya Angela. In 2017 she released a Christmas album 'Soul Holiday' and in 2019 she joined the original London cast of 'Waitress' as Becky. In April this year she will star in the London Coliseum production of 'Hairspray' as Motormouth Maybelle opposite Michael Ball. Marisha is also on the panel of experts who helped whittle down 100 years of classic musical songs to a shortlist of 50 for Radio 2's Greatest Song From a Musical Vote, which fellow panelist Elaine Paige will reveal on her show this Sunday, 31st January.

And speaking of Elaine, she continues to choose her Tracks Of My Years with music from Queen and David Bowie, plus there's the Love Song and PopMaster. There's also the record and album of the week.
