Romesh Ranganathan chats to Zoe about the new series of The Ranganation on 主播大秀 Two. Romesh Ranganathan鈥檚 topical comedy show returns to bring a dose of optimistic entertainment to the nation where he will be joined virtually by his hand-picked focus group, the Ranganation 鈥� 20 loveable, outspoken characters who represent a cross-section of modern Britain and who will give Romesh their take on a number of topical areas, sharing their own experiences along the way. Together, they will take a humorous look at the week鈥檚 biggest talking points, from front page news to trending topics, helping the nation to navigate their way through these tricky times.

To mark the 7th annual Children's Mental Health Week Zoe chats to Blue Peter presenter Lindsey Russell. Lindsey explains about the week of activities, classes and competitions being arranged by BAFTA, this is because creativity and self-expression have been proven to have a positive impact on young people鈥檚 mental health.

My younger sister Alice claims she鈥檚 started her midlife crisis at 25. She just begun her PhD and already has more new hobbies than I can count, two of which have had an unfortunate clash. She recently bought a hamster with my other sister Emily, and all was going well until Alice got a violin.聽

Every time she practices, the sound sends Rosie the hamster scurrying off to a hidden recess of her cage, where I can only assume she shoves woodchips in her ears. Turns out it takes years to learn聽violin, and in the meantime parents and hamsters experience excruciating ear pain like fingernails on chalkboards.

I am not a patient man.聽聽I don鈥檛 like waiting years. I like things to happen instantly.聽

I really want to make a film that I wrote 12 years ago, but I know I can only make this particular film well, with the right budget, and years more experience. Maybe one day I鈥檒l get to share it with you.聽

But I hate the waiting.聽聽

What can be worse, is when waiting seems to be completely pointless. At the moment I can write scripts, but thanks to Covid, it鈥檚 difficult to get on set to actually make them.

So I find it encouraging that, in the Bible, Moses had to wait 40 years in the desert before he came across a burning bush where God told him to go on this epic journey. In retrospect, it becomes clear that God used that seemingly pointless time of waiting to train Moses for his future.

I believe that, like Moses, when we invite God into our lives, to be the director, God stitches together our often-disjointed messes and our waiting into something beautiful. But sometimes I find it hard to even see this process because God sees the whole, long-term picture.

As I draw closer to God, I find it easier to see in this longer-term perspective. Which is something I聽think we need at the moment, as we face long-term problems like environmental degradation, technology and mental health, and pandemics.

So maybe Rosie the Hamster can allow Alice some years of painful violin. And maybe I can trust, that God is training me in my waiting, even if 2020 felt fruitless at times.
