Getting shops back open on the High Street

We examine the future of rail travel following a big drop in passenger numbers since the start of the pandemic. The government wants people to return to the rail network as it opens up the economy over the coming months. But rail passenger groups say an above inflation fare increase of 2.6 percent being introduced today will discourage them from doing so. We speak to Auriol Britton, a singer, who commutes from Bristol to London twice a week to busk on the London Underground.. She's blind and reliant on travelling by train to do her job. We also speak to Tony Miles, a rail expert who writes for Modern Railways Magazine.

We take a look at the impact on our pets health after a survey by the insurance company More Than found that we've been overfeeding our cats and dogs during lockdown. The UK wide survey of more than 2,000 pet owners says 34 per cent of those polled admitted to feeding their pets more treats in lockdown, and one in three said they were unable to spot the signs of their pet being overweight. We hear from a pet owner who fears her King Charles Spaniel has put on weight during lockdown after helping him to shed a few pounds a few years back with support from the veterinary charity, the PDSA. We also speak to James Russell, President of the British Veterinary Association.

It's been a week since Boris Johnson outlined his roadmap for getting out of lockdown in England. Shops, hairdressers and gyms are now getting ready to reopen on April the 12th. We speak to two very different businesses about their hopes and fears for the future. Vitina Seminara is the co-owner of a chain of hair salons and Mark Mitchell co-owns an independent toy shop.
