Episode 3 of 9

A trip to Aberdeenshire takes Ramsay to vast beaches and ruined coastal castles. Tha cuairt Ramsay gu sgìre Obardheathain ga thoirt gu tràighean fada is seann chaistealan.

Ramsay MacMahon guides us through the perfect two-day getaway in Aberdeenshire. Arriving in Newburgh, he heads straight for the beach with its vast pink strand and towering dunes. An amazing wildlife area, Ramsay spots Eider ducks and learns about the seal colony that now call the beach home. Before long he’s in the sea himself getting a windsurfing lesson.

Traveling inland, he learns how to make truffles from a local chocolatier in Ellon. But Ramsay can’t keep away from the rugged coastline and makes his way to Slains Castle at Cruden Bay. Here he walks in Bram Stoker’s footsteps - the now ruined clifftop building is said to have inspired the author to write Dracula.

Nuair a tha thu a’ còmhnaidh is a’ cosnadh ann am baile mòr, chan eil faochadh coltach ri bhi toirt do chasan ort a-mach chun na dùthcha aig an deireadh-sheachdain. Tha Ramsay MacMahon gar treòrachadh tro dhà latha sgoinneil ann an sgìre Obardheathain.
A’ tòiseachadh ann am Bail’ Ùr Fobharain, tha Ramsay a’ criosad chun na tràghad, le gainmheach phinc agus coilleagan àrda os a’chionn. Deagh àite son fiadh-bheathaichean: tha e a’ faicinn na lachainn Lochlannach agus a’ faighinn barrachd a-mach mu na ròin a tha dèanamh an dachaidh air an tràigh. Cha bhi e fhèin fada a’ gabhail a-mach gu muir a dh’ionnsachadh surfadh-gaoithe.

A’ tionndadh air falbh on chladach, ionnsaichidh e trufail teòclaid a dhèanamh ann an Eilean – ach tha’n cuan ga tharraing gu Bàgh Chrùdain agus tobhta Caisteal Slains. Tha e ri ràdh gun ann a sheo a ghabh Bram Stoker na cheann, sgeulachd Dhracula a’ sgrìobhadh.
