Advent, Mozart and an ancient tree

Music for Advent, an introduction to Swedish composer Helena Munktell and an instrument made from 600 year old wood.

A very special instrument features in our Album of the Week, the Rauwolf Lute, made of pine wood grown around the 1450s. We hear it played by master lutenist Jakob Lindberg in a programme of Bach. As the 230th anniversary of Wolfgang Mozart鈥檚 passing takes place this month, Jamie shares some of his ground-breaking classics, alongside a lesser known gem by composer Helena Munktell, the first Swedish woman to write an opera. Plus there's a whiff of Christmas in the air as Jamie plays music for Advent, alongside some of your favourite carols.
