The re-opening of The Burrell Collection in Glasogw

Nicola Meighan and Natasha Raskin Sharp at The Burrell Collection in Glasgow as it opens its doors after a five year refurbishment. Plus Tuesday Review.

On Tuesday we have a special edition of The Afternoon Show coming live from The Burrell Collection in Glasgow when it opens its doors to the public after being closed to be refurbished for over five years.

Nicola Meighan will chat to just some of the team responsible for bringing nine thousand objects in the Collection back to display. Curator Dr Anthony Lewis will talk about Sir William Burrell’s collections and the influence of the women in his life. Conservator Steph De Roemer will choose an object from the five hundred she has worked on and describe the process behind conservation.

Artist and sculptor Sandy Stoddart will talk about his specially commissioned bronze plaque of Sir William and Lady Constance Burrell.

We’ll also hear from volunteer guide of 38 years, Margaret Anderson and Duncan Dornan Head of Museums and Collections at Glasgow Life.

TV and radio Presenter Natasha Raskin Sharp will be on location to describe the delights of the Collection and find out what the locals make of it!

We'll also have our regular Tuesday Review with Peter Ross and Fiona Shepherd who share their thoughts on the Burrell Collection and the refurbished building. They will also review the Ö÷²¥´óÐã documentary ‘Banned’ which tells the Mary Whitehouse story and finally the spy drama ‘Slow Horses’ about a dysfunctional team of MI5 agents and which stars Gary Oldman and Kirstin Scott Thomas.
