Cerys brings you live performances from the 6 Music Festival in Cardiff from Georgia Ruth and Cerys Hafana. With highlights from the festival so far from Little Simz, Khruangbin, Ibeyi, Carwyn Ellis & Rio 18 and Ezra Collective.
Hailing from Aberystwyth, Georgia Ruth draws on folk influences, her debut album Week of Pines won the Welsh Music Prize in 2013. She's collaborated with The Manic Street Preachers, Gwyneth Glyn and Tauseef Akhtar.
Cerys is in conversation with Cerys Hafana, a multi-instrumentalist from Machynlleth, mid Wales. Cerys specialises in the triple harp and is inspired by nursery rhymes and the sound of the rain, creating a unique sound to evoke the language and weather of Wales. In 2020 Cerys won the Aberystwyth Arts Centre Ian McKellen Award and is a member of Avanc: the Welsh Youth Folk Ensemble.
Cerys welcomes violinist Bridget O鈥橠onnell and jazz-bassist Misha Mullov-Abbado to discuss their latest project for Sinfonia Cmyru, Songs for the Earth. Misha and Bridget have co-curated a programme which includes arrangements of folk music from Celtic traditions and world cultures from South America to Eastern Europe.
