Investigators crack down on a company fitting vehicles with special devices that are supposed to reduce toxic fumes and improve air quality. The devices cost thousands of pounds and are fitted to exhausts on high-polluting vehicles. They should eliminate up to 90 per cent of pollutants. But in this case, the devices were fake – and completely worthless. The company director and salesman are among those about to face justice for their part in a fraud worth more than half a million pounds.

Meanwhile, trading standards officers are closing in on a cowboy company claiming it can cut energy bills by treating houses with a special insulating paint. But the truth is that the work was expensive and ineffective, and more than 50 customers complained. The team are determined to put a stop to the scam and bring those responsible to justice.
