Hope and Ö÷²¥´óÐãs for Children

5.4 million children are trapped in orphanages worldwide today, but 80% of them aren’t orphans. They’ve been separated from families because of disability, poverty or war. The majority suffer violence, abuse and torture. In later life, they’re more likely to become homeless, to turn to crime and to experience mental and physical health issues. Some don’t survive orphanages at all. Hope and Ö÷²¥´óÐãs for Children aims to make orphanages history, because children need families. So far, we’ve helped 250,000 children around the world to grow up in loving families.

The world doesn’t need orphanages

The world doesn’t need orphanages
For nearly 30 years, we’ve been stopping children from being locked up in orphanages. Our social workers offer support to prevent families giving up their children. We also rescue children from orphanages, by reuniting them with relatives or finding them foster families.

Uwase’s story

Uwase’s story
After being born with a twisted leg, Uwase was locked up in over-crowded orphanage and left in a metal cot unable to move. Hope and Ö÷²¥´óÐãs for Children closed the orphanage and helped Gatete & Uwimana to foster Uwase. Today she is happy and enjoys school.

Ukraine orphanage crisis

Ukraine orphanage crisis
Many of the 100,000 children trapped in Ukraine’s orphanage system are in the firing line, without adequate staff, food and water. By supporting Hope and Ö÷²¥´óÐãs for Children’s teams in Ukraine, Moldova and Romania, you can protect these victims of the war.
