Ken Bruce presents a special compilation edition of Tracks Of My Years as we prepare to celebrate the 80th birthday of a music icon Sir Paul McCartney.
Born in Liverpool on the 18th June, 1942 – Paul taught himself piano, guitar and songwriting. At the age of just 15 he met and joined John Lennon’s band The Quarrymen, they went on to form The Beatles, one of the most influential bands of the time and Lennon and McCartney remain the most successful songwriting partnership in history.

It’s rare to look at a list of 10 Tracks submitted by Ken's mid-morning guests without Paul popping up in some form - either with The Beatles, Wings or his solo work. Throughout the next hour you’ll be hearing from many of those Tracks Of My Years guests, raving about his unmistakable voice, melodies and all round musical talent.

We revisit Russell Crowe, Anthony Horowitz, Jeff Lynne, Carly Simon and Lionel Richie amongst others, who share their stories of Paul McCartney and their reasons for choosing his music.
