Beatha is the debut flute and whistle album from talented multi-instrumentalist Tina Jordan Rees. Set for release on Friday 24 June, Beatha celebrates life and the small moments of joy experienced in the everyday. In 2018, not long having turned 30 years old, Tina was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Thankfully, it was found early and she has made a full recovery but the experience changed her outlook on life somewhat. Tina joins Deirdre in conversation about this life-changing experience and the life-affirming album she has created as a result.

10 years ago, Scotland had its moment in the Disney PIxar spotlight as the film Brave was released to critical acclaim - winning the Academy Award, BAFTA and Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature and earning more than half a billion dollars at the worldwide box office. Not only was the film a celebration of Scotland's heritage, but a celebration of our musical traditions. The soundtrack, scored by Scottish film composer Patrick Doyle, featured some of Scotland's top folk musicians including Julie Fowlis, Lorne MacDougall and Chris Stout. We hear an excerpt from the Travelling Folk archives when we had the pleasure of speaking to Patrick Doyle about how he brought the score together and why honouring Scotland's traditional music was important to him.
