Potatoes, Seaweed and Coastal Erosion

Mark visits the Commonwealth Potato Collection at the James Hutton Institute just outside Dundee. The collection allows researchers to study the genes of the plants to help tackle disease and ensure the continued health of one of the world鈥檚 most important food sources.

Walking charity Paths for All recently launched the Ian Findlay Path Fund, a 拢1.5million fund for the improvement of path networks to increase walking, wheeling and cycling, for a happier, healthier, greener Scotland. Mark finds out more about the fund and the man it鈥檚 named after, their late Chief Officer, Ian Findlay CBE who died very suddenly in March 2021.

We hear live about surveys that are being made of heritage sites at risk of coastal erosion along the coasts of Moray, Aberdeenshire and parts of the Highlands. The SCAPE Trust charity wants volunteers to get involved, we find out how.

When Mark visited the Turriff Show at the start of the week he met Gary Maclean, Scotland鈥檚 National Chef. They chat about the importance of promoting Scottish produce and recipes.

Mark hears about a dramatic osprey chick rescue at a Scottish Wildlife Trust reserve in Angus.
