Time to talk peace?

Has the war in Ukraine reached stalemate? If so, is it time for peace talks to begin?

It's now 194 days since Russia invaded Ukraine- its sovereign independent neighbour.
Some military experts believe the situation in the country has reached stalemate- with neither side advancing.
Such a scenario led the former Chief of the General Staff of the British army, Lord Dannatt to call on Ukraine and Russia to begin peace negotiations.
So what are the ethical challenges facing the Ukrainian political leaders, military and people as they continue to fight against the Russian invasion of their country- should they begin ceasefire talks? If not, how will this war end?
