The first real freeze of winter is upon us and is set to continue into next week. It comes amid the ongoing cost of living crisis.  An extended yellow weather warning is in place for parts of the country. Forecasters think we're likely to be experiencing icy temperatures until at least early next week and maybe beyond that – possibly as low as minus ten in parts.
We've already heard warnings that the winter mortality rate could rise as pensioners struggle to heat their homes.   But what can we all do to help ?
