Live coverage from Istanbul, where the first medals of the European Indoor Championships will be handed out, with seven golds up for grabs.

The titles to be won include in the women’s 60m, where there is always a top-class field. Dina Asher-Smith broke the British indoor record in Janurary 2023 and is hoping to be involved after having to withdraw from the previous European Indoors with injury. The reigning world indoor 60m champion is Mujinga Kambundji of Switzerland.

Britain struck gold in the opening medal session at the last European Indoors in Poland in 2021, with Amy-Eloise Markovc winning the 3,000m. Team GB ended the event with 12 medals, more than any other nation – but a good start in Turkey will be crucial if that feat is to be repeated.
