Amref Health Africa works to create lasting health change in sub-Saharan Africa. We believe that health is a human right and we know that lasting change is only possible when it鈥檚 community-led. We partner with communities in 35 African countries to train health workers, deliver vital services and strengthen health systems to make sure people can access quality healthcare.
Meet Phanice Kwamboka
Phanice is a mum of four and a market-trader from Barani, Mombasa County, Kenya. She鈥檚 living with Type 2 diabetes and needs regular medicine and doctors鈥� support. Amref鈥檚 mobile clinic gives her easy, free access to the help she needs to keep healthy.
Amref鈥檚 mobile clinics
Trained health worker shortages and lack of local health services mean half of people in Africa still don鈥檛 receive the healthcare that they need. In 2022, Amref launched solar-powered mobile clinics which take health workers and vital services direct to communities that need it most.
Health worker training
By 2030, Africa will be short 6 million trained health workers. Every missing worker means hundreds of people will go without the care they need. Amref trains health workers to help build a strong, skilled, equipped and supported health workforce for communities across Africa.
