The 1963 film about Derry being put to music by Neil Hannon

Musician Neil Hannon is inspired by a 1963 film, A City Solitary, made by John Hume and Terence McDonald and narrated by his father Brian when he was a curate in the city.

Musician Neil Hannon has taken the 1963 film "A City Solitary" about Derry made by John Hume & Terence McDonald and narrated by his father Bishop Brian Hannon when he was a curate in the city as inspiration for a new collaboration with the Ulster Orchestra. Terence's son Peter talks about his father's passion for film making, the Northern Ireland Screen鈥檚 Digital Film Archive that "A City Solitary" and the Terence McDonald collection is stored and preserved by the IFI Irish Film Archive.
Mark also hears from the Ulster Orchestra's Artistic Director Patrick McCarthy on wanting to work with Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon and the possibility of getting the work to Derry itself.
