On the road this week, from Raphoe to the Ards Penninsula and along the East Coast

Looking forward to Raphoe’s Ulster-Scots Heritage day, looking back at the sights and sounds of the past around Islandmagee and Carrick, and a hoke in the hedgerows for free food!

Helen and Rab remember their last visit to Raphoe’s Heritage Day in 2019 and Derek Reaney tells them what the local Ulster-Scots community has planned for the next one on the last Saturday of May as they relaunch the event after the pandemic.
Willie has been to visit Francey McHugh to find out more about his extensive collection of old audio recordings and photographs of life around his part of the East Coast – Islandmagee and Carrickfergus.
Now the wild garlic has gone for another year, Gibson Young and Davy Thompson have a quick chat about what to look for in the hedgerows when it comes to foraging over the next couple of months.
As always, listeners are encouraged to contact the programme if they’ve a good Ulster-Scots yarn, song or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email - kintra@bbc.co.uk.
