The Reeling and The Haal

Festival season is upon us! Anna hears about brand new folk festival, The Reeling, and a North East festival in its 13th year, The Haal in Portsoy.

The warmer weather has arrived and festival season is upon us!

Next weekend, Rouken Glen Park will burst to life with traditional Scottish and roots music from some of the country’s most exciting artists on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th June 2023, for what will be the biggest single weekend of traditional music in the Central Belt. The Reeling is a brand new summertime folk festival for this year and the brainchild of Glasgow-based music promoter Michael Pellegrotti - one of the co-directors behind the incredibly successful Skye Live Festival. Michael joins Anna live ahead of the festival's inaugural year.

Further North, the Haal festival in Portsoy is celebrating its 13th year this weekend with a line-up featuring the Sands family, Karine Polwart, Patsy Seddon and Mary MacMaster. Bob Philips is the chairman of Folk At The Salmon Bothy and joins Anna live from behind the scenes at the Haal as he prepares for the big weekend.
