This week, Cerys welcomes singer Bettye LaVette to discuss her blues influences, her career and new album. Bettye recorded her first single when she was 16 and toured with Ben E King and Otis Redding. She has continued to record ever since and has been nominated for multiple Grammys, and in 2006 she received the Pioneer Award from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation. In 2008, she was awarded a Blues Music Award for Best Contemporary Female Blues Singer, and the following year sang A Change is Gonna Come at President Obama's Inauguration. Her new album LaVette is a collection of tracks written by Randall Bramblett and features guest appearances ranging from Steve Winwood to Jon Mayer.
