Your gateway to the best in jazz 鈥� past, present and future. Jazz supergroup ARTEMIS in session, plus Na茂ssam Jalal's inspirations.
Kevin Le Gendre presents a session from ARTEMIS, a jazz 鈥渟upergroup鈥� featuring six of the most gifted instrumentalists on the scene 鈥� Renee Rosnes on piano, Ingrid Jensen on trumpet, Nicole Glover on tenor, Rachael Cohen on alto saxophone, Noriko Ueda on bass and Allison Miller on drums. Together they perform music from their stirring new album for Blue Note Records, In Real Time.
Also in the programme, we hear some of the music that has inspired Franco-Syrian flautist and vocalist Na茂ssam Jalal whose latest release, Healing Rituals, is already being tipped as an album of the year. Na茂ssam draws inspiration from many musical traditions, blending jazz with Arabic influences to stunning, atmospheric effect.
