40 years of Taggart on TV, Sarah Jane Morris, adoption musical Forever Ö÷²¥´óÐã

Taggart celebrates 40 years on our screens, plus Sarah Jane Morris' new album celebrating trailblazing women, new novel Brodie and musical Forever Ö÷²¥´óÐã.

Sarah Jane Morris’ career has spanned three decades – as well as singing with the Communards, The Republic, and Happy End, her work has encompassed rock, blues, classical orchestras and jazz big bands. Her newest project celebrates 10 trailblazing female singer-songwriters, and it begins with a new album The Sisterhood.

It’s been 40 years since Taggart first hit our tv screens. Janice will be joined by DS Jackie Reid AKA actor Blythe Duff as well as archivist Carole MacCallum at Glasgow Caledonian University who has launched Taggart: The People’s Archive to recognise the programme’s special relationship with its audiences.

The Single of the Week comes from Glasgow rock duo Saint Sappho. Multi-instrumentalist Zoe and drummer Tammy share their new track.

Alan Penman has joined forces with his wife, writer and actor Pauline Lockhart to create a musical theatre production – Forever Ö÷²¥´óÐã. It explores the challenges that come with adoption – a subject close to their hearts as they adopted their daughter when she was four years old. Alan and actor Kirsty Findlay give Janice a preview.

Brodie is the debut novel from Gillian Shirreffs. It’s a love letter to Muriel Sparks and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and the story is told from the perspective of a book as it finds itself in the hands of various different owners.
