Paying up for living longer

Are we shirking responsibility by not saving for our potential care home costs? Dr Ciara Fitzpatrick, Alex Kane and Bumper Graham discuss the expense of life's third age.

Many of us look forward to retirement although quite a few dread it believing life, as they know it, will be over.
As well as opportunities, it also carries a number of fears- financial, health and others.
None of us wants to end up in a care home but for many that's an inevitability
Has today's society replaced the nuclear family model where the generations provided care for each other?
Should the state provide greater support for a stay at home parent to look after both their children and their elderly parents?
Should we all have a compulsory salary set aside scheme to pay for our care in our old age?
Presenter Audrey Carville in conversation with Dr Ciara Fitzpatrick, commentator Alex Kane and retired trade union leader Bumper Graham.
