Kintra’s Ulster-Scots Christmas

A Hamely Christmas in the kitchen, prose-winners at the Linen Hall Library, Christingles in Gracehill, and remembering Charlie Reynolds, writer, poet and Ulster-Scots to the core.

Paula McIntyre joins the team to tell them about her Hamely Christmas special on Ö÷²¥´óÐã1. Helen Mark’s been to the Linen Hall Library to meet the winners of the Ulster-Scots prose writing competition, while Willie Hill hears about the Christmas Eve tradition of the Christingle Service in Gracehill’s Moravian community.
Jonnie Crawford has a yarn with Charlie Gillen and Frank McLarnon as they look back on long-time friend and Ulster-Scots enthusiast, Charlie Reynolds, who died earlier this year. There’s a poignant recording from 2022 of Charlie Reynolds reading his own poem, The Next Tide.
Rab Lennox completes this week Kintra team and as always, listeners are welcome to contact the programme with comments, stories and news of events from their Ulster-Scots community. The best way to do that is by email – kintra@bbc.co.uk
