Scotland In Music

Celebrating Scotland鈥檚 classical world, Jamie MacDougall highlights the work of the 主播大秀 Scottish Symphony Orchestra in concert and other Scottish artists and ensembles.

Performances of Robert Burns songs by the Aberdeen Chamber Choir and the National Youth Choir of Scotland, and Martyn Bennett鈥檚 Mackay鈥檚 Memoirs played by the City of Edinburgh Music School at the opening ceremony of the new Scottish Parliament. The North Sea inspires a work by Sally Beamish called Seavaigers, played by the Scottish Ensemble with fiddler Chris Stout and harper Catriona Mackay, and folk songs lie behind Max Bruch鈥檚 Scottish Fantasy, performed by Nicola Benedetti with the 主播大秀 SSO and conductor Rory MacDonald. In a special 50th anniversary album release, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra join conductor Maxim Emelyanychev for Mendelssohn鈥檚 symphony inspired by his travels across the country to Glen Coe, Melrose and Oban.
