The Greatest Auction

A clown needs to sell his huge collection of circus memorabilia to raise cash for a worthy cause and to help support his wife. Expect dinosaurs, retro tech and Hugh Jackman.

A vast and valuable collection curated over a lifetime needs to be cleared. Pensioner David has decided to sell his rare and unique circus memorabilia and put the money raised towards a good cause – entertaining locals with his clown and variety act. He hopes he will make enough cash to fund several shows for Bubbles, his alter ego, to entertain children across Scotland. The big clear-out will allow for a downsize, too - a key motive for David to help support his poorly wife.

After being greeted by a knight’s suit of armour, auctioneer Christina Trevanion makes museum-quality finds amongst David’s collection, including items that once belonged to PT Barnum, the real-life circus owner made famous by Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman movie. After discovering some remarkably small shoes that are potentially worth big money, Christina finds time to do her own clowning around by dressing up as a dinosaur.

Meanwhile, JJ Chalmers finds an important and iconic piece of British innovation lying forgotten in a garden shed. JJ, a restoration whizz, also takes on an electrifying job of rewiring a game that will bring smiles to children of all ages.

The auction is more circus than saleroom, but if anyone can turn cuddly toys into cash, it’s Christina. However, will JJ and his restoration fix be taking buyers for a ride?
